Quattrocentenario 2003

The year 2003 was characterizes by a perfect winter, followed by an extremely hot and dry summer. It never rained for a period of 3 month. Fortunately at the day 7th of August it rained for last 3 hours. This fact allowed saving a good part of the harvest almost damaged because of the dryness (25% of reduction). Harvest started at the 19th of  September. Unusual early compared to the previous years.

We collected dry and sane grapes with a high sugar concentration. Fermentation and the following maceration lasted for two weeks.

Around the end of November, once the malolactic fermentation was terminated, we filled the wine in new barriques; here the wine lasted for a period of 21 month. We bottled this wine in September 2005.

In 2003 we produced 6.500 bottles of this wine.


Colour: very intense, deep ruby red.

Fragrance: intense smell of black fruits, with hints of spices, excellent balance between fruit and wood. 

Taste: full, elegant, excellent structure with mild tannins.


Blending: Sangiovese 100%

Alcohol: 13,8%

Volatile Acidity: 0.92 gr/l

Total Acidity: 5.38 gr/l

Dry extract: 30.00 gr/l
